A day at the Capitol provides an opportunity for school social workers and school psychologists to come togetherand educate state lawmakers about how we address student barriers to learning and academic success in cost-
effective ways. This is a professional development day, not a political lobby day.
Who should attend?
- Current or past school social workers and school
psychologists - Students interested in the field of social work or
psychology - Friends and supporters of school social work, school
psychology, school mental health services, and public
education

- Deepen your understanding of current legislation
which impacts education and the students,
families, schools, and communities we serve. - Identify effective ways to advocate and share
your story with key policymakers to influence
change. - Initiate and/or build relationships with legislative
representatives and association lobbyist. - Practice developing effective messaging to
impact public policy change.
